JOB TITLE:† Controller


GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: ††Supports the CFO by providing and developing innovative accounting ideas and opportunities for the company.† The Controller will be responsible for all accounting functions related to the monthly close and will assist other administrative personnel with special projects as needed.

SUPERVISION REQUIRED: ††Reports to Chief Financial Officer

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:† †Administrative staff as assigned.


1.†††††† Prepares monthly general and adjusting journal entries, comparative reports, account reconciliations, and cost reports.

2.†††††† Prepares accurate monthly financial statements and physician capital account reconciliations.† Analyzes and reports on monthly financial variances.

3.†††††† Maintains the companyís system of accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets.

4.†††††† Directs the month ending closeout process (general ledger through physician compensation plan).

5.†††††† Assists independent auditors with interim and year-end audits and verifies accuracy of reports.

6.†††††† Assists the CFO and other management staff in the preparation of major clinic financial reports, project forecasts, and various other analyses.

7.†††††† Keeps informed of all government regulations and procedures affecting finance and accounting procedures.

8.†††††† Reviews all general ledger transactions to verify accuracy of coding, classifying, and posting as well as ensuring proper authorization is obtained for purchases.

9.†††††† Prepares reports of budget expenditures, revenues and account balances.

10.††† Assists clerical employees with problems related to tracking and inputting data into proper accounting format.

11.††† Assists with the selection, training and performance evaluation of assigned staff.

12.††† Evaluating operational trends and making recommendations on how to maximize financial resources.

13.††† Ensuring regulatory and loan compliance.

14.††† Maximize tax saving options by being familiar with the tax rules.

15.††† Maintains strictest confidentiality.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: ††Bachelorís degree in accounting, finance or related field. CPA Preferred

EXPERIENCE: ††3-5 years of accounting experience preferably in healthcare.† Closing experience desired.


  • Advanced-level skills in Excel are required.
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems and spreadsheet applications.† Knowledge of accounts payable practices and business office procedures.† Skill in use of accounting programs, spreadsheets, a variety of computer applications, and 10-key calculator.† Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness.† Attention to detail is essential.† Ability to work effectively with coworkers as a team member.† Ability to communicate clearly.†
